Fixing a Grumman Fuel Tank Leak
or
How I Spent My Summer Vacation

Day 7

Drip... Drip... Drip....

Day 7 found a small puddle on the hanger floor. groan. sigh.

But wait... it's dripping from the inboard end of the tank. There's no way this could have anything to do with the repair job on the outboard rib. It didn't take long to track the source of the leak to the fuel quantity sender gasket. In fact, it may have been seeping for some time, but not enough to show. The weeks of sitting out dry just pushed the old gasket over the edge. Another call to Fletchair got a replacement gasket headed my way.

The gasket was replaced a few shipping days later and the tank was filled. I went to bed that night, but didn't sleep much. I kept waking up to some sort of dripping noise.
