It was only three weeks ago it still <A HREF=\"http:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/blog\/creature-feature-2018-6\/\">looked like summer<\/A>.<br \/>\nRecent rains have left the lake level about a foot higher than normal, but it was clearly even higher, as can be seen by the mud line along the shore:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2ah5P2L\"><IMG SRC=\"http:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/media\/IMGP0792_0005_tn.jpg\"><\/A><br \/>\nor the mud on this ourcropping of vegetation:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2bDZgMB\"><IMG SRC=\"http:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/media\/IMGP0838_0002_tn.jpg\"><\/A><br \/>\nThe wildlife is looking more winter-like too, with wintering <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.allaboutbirds.org\/guide\/Bufflehead\/overview\">Buffleheads<\/A> hanging around:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2ah5HWA\"><IMG SRC=\"http:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/media\/IMGP0824_0004_tn.jpg\"><\/A><br \/>\nI try not to spook the wildlife, but sometimes it happens anyway.<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2ah6cqU\"><IMG SRC=\"http:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/media\/IMGP0826_0003_tn.jpg\"><\/A><br \/>\nOh, and let&#8217;s not forget the obligatory <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.allaboutbirds.org\/guide\/Great_Blue_Heron\/overview\">Great Blue Heron<\/A> picture: this one was hunting for dinner so I kept some distance:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/QURCY3\"><IMG SRC=\"http:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/media\/IMGP0879_0001_tn.jpg\"><\/A><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s finally starting to look more like late fall-going-on-winter around here, with the weather turning cooler and the trees finally sheding their summer plumage.
