{"id":1266,"date":"2019-07-09T18:12:41","date_gmt":"2019-07-09T23:12:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/blog\/?p=1266"},"modified":"2019-07-09T18:12:41","modified_gmt":"2019-07-09T23:12:41","slug":"creature-feature-2019-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/blog\/creature-feature-2019-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Creature Feature 2019 #3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A little catch up from what I had in the camera, and a little catchup on paddling.<br \/>\nSunrise: my favorite time of day.<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2guvWdf\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1845_0009_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nEarly in the morning like this, and with our usual summertime humidity that can be measured in liters\/gallons, some fog is inevitiable;<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2guvDi3\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1875_0008_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nStill, there are those little nooks and cranies around the lake that are pretty neat.<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2guws4s\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1830_0010_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nBut enough of the scenery, on with the creatures to be featured today, like this <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.allaboutbirds.org\/guide\/double-crested_cormorant\">Cormorant<\/A> and <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.allaboutbirds.org\/guide\/Canada_Goose\/\">Goose<\/A>:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2guwYeD\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1804_0011_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nThe <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.allaboutbirds.org\/guide\/osprey\">Osprey<\/A> were on the job:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2guvQfu\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1948_0005_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nOk, one more bit of scenery. Recent storms left a number of freshly-downed trees around the lake, but this chunk had been there for a while. Between the reflection and refraction, it looks like a really big arrow crash-landed in the lake (shot by a really big creature?):<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2guvJnx\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1993_0004_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nI don&#8217;t know if this is the work of some creature, but it almost has to be, even if that creature is a human. It resembles what results when a roll of hay gets away and lands in the lake, but not quite. There are beavers active in this area:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2guuWmo\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP2022_0003_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nWe know the Herons go in the trees, but it&#8217;s rather rare to see one sitting out in the open like this.
