{"id":1416,"date":"2021-06-12T15:36:56","date_gmt":"2021-06-12T20:36:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/blog\/?p=1416"},"modified":"2021-06-12T15:37:48","modified_gmt":"2021-06-12T20:37:48","slug":"return-to-croft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/blog\/return-to-croft\/","title":{"rendered":"Return to Croft!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week I decided to play hooky for a day (well, ok, I used some PTO, so it was legit) and make a <em>Long<\/em> overdue trip up to <A HREF=\"https:\/\/southcarolinaparks.com\/croft\">Croft State Park<\/A>. I really missed being able to do that during the pandemic. In fact, it was so special of an occasion (first time back since the pandemic, first time in the summer, &#8230;) I didn&#8217;t take many pictures. But I did get some, and here&#8217;s the pick of the litter.<\/p>\n<p>These ducks were hanging out on the Fairforest Creek doing some of that &#8220;airframe maintenance&#8221;:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2m58Jj8\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP5627_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nand weren&#8217;t bothered by the bridge being out just upstream. This bridge washed out during a period of heavy rains way back before the pandemic.<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2m556jy\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP5630_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nIt was a pretty substantial bridge. I can only imagine the force involved in ripping it out.<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2m5e94S\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP5639_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nFlowers were blooming here and there throughout the forest:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2m5cEo7\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMG_20210610_154047668_tn.jpg\"><\/A><br \/>\nThis looks like one of those little predator-prey relationships. I can make a pretty good guess which is which:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2m59KzK\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP5654_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nFrom the moment I first went past the entrance gate, I&#8217;ve felt that Croft State Park was somehow different. special, and just a great place to be a bird.
