{"id":1519,"date":"2022-08-14T13:08:10","date_gmt":"2022-08-14T18:08:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/blog\/?p=1519"},"modified":"2022-08-14T13:08:10","modified_gmt":"2022-08-14T18:08:10","slug":"creature-feature-2022-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/blog\/creature-feature-2022-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Creature Feature 2022 #4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Playing some catch up on the pictures from the last couple of months.<\/p>\n<p>This might be one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allaboutbirds.org\/guide\/Spotted_Sandpiper\/\">Spotted Sandpipers<\/a> I noted <a href=\"creature-feature-2022-1\/\">earlier<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2nEhkUL\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP7635_tn.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Those <a href=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/canada-goose\">geeselets<\/a> grow up fast.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2nEiGci\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP7678_tn.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Seeing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/great-egret\">Great Egrets<\/a> around already; in the past I wouldn&#8217;t see them until later in the summer.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2nEjNbX\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP7743_tn.png\"><\/a><br \/>\nThat&#8217;s a lot of bird to land in a tree.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2nEjNe2\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP7728_tn.png\"><\/a><br \/>\nBut birds have a LOT of flight control authority to make things like that happen.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2nEjN9H\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP7758_tn.png\"><\/a><br \/>\nEarly one morning I found where the Egrets were having their morning meeting.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2nEcihk\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/PXL_20220805_103617480_tn.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/turkey-vulture\">Turkey Vutures<\/a> like soaring. That&#8217;s a lot of feathers; it&#8217;s no wonder there&#8217;s so much rustling when they settle in to roost for the night.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2nEiG61\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP7788_tn.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/osprey\">Osprey<\/a> also like to get up there to look for fish.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2nEiG4x\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP7819_tn.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I was out on foot early one morning and caught the sunrise through the trees across the lake.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2nEiGgS\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/PXL_20220630_100753785_tn.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Not a great obligatory <a href=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/great-blue-heron\">Great Blue Heron<\/a> picture, but I had to use this early morning shot so I could caption it &#8220;with legs like these, who needs a chair?&#8221;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2nEhjQQ\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP7583_tn.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Playing some catch up on the pictures from the last couple of months.
