No matter, on to the lake!<\/p>\n<p>Any time there&#8217;s good sun on a cool day the turtles will be out.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pgs8ba\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP0243_tn.png\"><\/a><br \/>\nThis big white guy (duck? goose?) seemed intent on crashing the duck party:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pgyYbA\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP0298_tn.png\"><\/a><br \/>\nI&#8217;m not sure how this picture happened, I saw some ducks on approach and started shooting (with the camera, of course):<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pgyYat\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP0303_tn.png\"><\/a><br \/>\nSplash down! This is what I was wanting to get:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pgyYa8\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP0305_tn.png\"><\/a><br \/>\nThere were several large groups of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/canada-goose\">Canada Geese<\/a> around. One took off near me:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pgwCWU\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP0324_tn.png\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pgs8b5\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP0336_tn.png\"><\/a><br \/>\nI&#8217;ve said it before, and I&#8217;ll say it again, just when I think I&#8217;ve seen about everything the lake has to offer, I see something new.  I don&#8217;t remember ever seeing an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/american-coot\">American Coot<\/a> here before:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pgykbx\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP0371_tn.png\"><\/a><br \/>\nAnd for the obligatory <a href=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/great-blue-heron\">Great Blue Heron<\/a> picture&#8230; I passed a Heron who was almost hidden in the brush along the shore, and figured I&#8217;d gotten by without disturbing him. Then he took off, flew past and ahead of me before I could grab the camera, but then he circled back towards me. I got a lot of camera frames from his fly-by, making it hard to pick the ones I wanted to post. Imagine flying on those big wings!<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pgykdr\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP0261_tn.png\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pgykd1\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP0265_tn.png\"><\/a><br \/>\nAnd I wished him well as he flew south towards the sun; looks like something out of &#8220;Jonathan Livingston Heron&#8221;&#8230;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pgwCXL\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/IMGP0269_tn.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The trip on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.strava.com\/activities\/10240979470\">Strava<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was a really nice late fall day today, and one that made me think about getting out on the lake one more time this season, even though there was some wind making the lake a bit choppy.
