So, I&#8217;m not really surprised that it took this long to get my kayaking season started. <\/p>\n<p>I actually got out last weekend on a sunny, if slightly cool, bright puffy-cloud day. The lake level was about 40cm above normal, which I always like because that lets me get into more little feeder streams and backwaters. This included one that I never could get into before (that&#8217;s not the actual route, just a little place along the way through the woods):<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pS2gS8\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/PXL_20240511_174451336_tn.jpg\"><\/A><br \/>\nwhich led to a really beautiful little pond.<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pS82oN\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/PXL_20240511_175413135_tn.jpg\"><\/A><br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/molly-of-denali.fandom.com\/wiki\/Shroonchyaa\">Shroonchyaa!<\/A><br \/>\nI followed that up with a little dawn outing on Monday:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pS9baW\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/PXL_20240513_101242294_tn.jpg\"><\/A><br \/>\nThis morning was a very different day, again cool, but low overcast and breezy out of the northeast, enough to create some chop on the lake near the dam and <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/osprey\">Osprey<\/A> nest.  Prepare to land! Gear down!<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pS8FJg\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP0702_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nThe dreary-looking conditions seemed to have a lot of the wildlife laying low, but of course, the <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/canada-goose\">Geese<\/A> are (almost) always here:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pS2gSy\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP0781_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nAnd ducks:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pS2gQ9\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP0803_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nAnd, finally, the obligatory <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/great-blue-heron\">Great Blue Heron<\/A> picture:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2pS6ZMm\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP0793_tn.png\"><\/A><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It seems that ever since I got back from my epic road trip I&#8217;ve been in catch-up mode.
