I&#8217;ll have more to say about Helene later, after the dust settles a bit more.<\/p>\n<p>This <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/killdeer\">Kildeer<\/A> was operating along the top of the dam:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2qoT5Yt\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1380_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nI can&#8217;t help but wonder if this is one of the <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/canada-goose\">Canada Geese<\/A> that was rehab&#8217;d and released after encountering a industrial sludge pond. And, more <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/killdeer\">kildeer<\/A>:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2qoVrdw\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1713_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nI don&#8217;t see <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/american-crow\">Crows<\/A> along the lake so much as in the woods:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2qoUneK\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1626_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nTurtles were out that day:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2qoUnb3\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1657_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nSpotted one of our <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/bald-eagle\">Bald Eagles<\/A>. In fact, he gave me a pretty good look as she flew by:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2qoUnix\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1575_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nA <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/great-egret\">Great Egret<\/A> making a nice full-stall landing:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2qoVr7e\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1842_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nAnd, of course, the obligatory <A HREF=\"https:\/\/www.audubon.org\/field-guide\/bird\/great-blue-heron\">Great Blue Heron<\/A> pictures. I saw several doing some airframe maintenance:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2qoNAjZ\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1460_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2qoUKux\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1599_tn.png\"><\/A><br \/>\nAnd the payoff for that maintenance:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2qoUnha\"><IMG SRC=\"\/media\/IMGP1791_tn.png\"><\/A><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These pictures were taken back around the end of September, and I&#8217;d been meaning to post them, but I got a little busy with something called Helene.
