I know I titled this &#8220;Heron Special&#8221;, but the Great Blue Herons weren&#8217;t the only birds out there. This Kingfisher was just hangin&#8217; out, fluffed a bit against the cool temperatures:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/u\/0\/photos\/111937200226914845828\/albums\/5513116066249600065\/5952229535115932930?pid=5952229535115932930&amp;oid=111937200226914845828\"><IMG SRC=\"http:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/media\/IMGP7474_0013_tn.jpg\"><\/A><br \/>\n(as usual, click on the picture for a higher-resolution version)<br \/>\nSo I&#8217;m paddling along and I spooked a Heron that I didn&#8217;t see. I try not to do that, but I just didn&#8217;t see this one. She took off and headed up the lake, but then decided to turn back. Maybe she recognized me and realized I wasn&#8217;t a threat, and wanted to get back to that spot.<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/u\/0\/photos\/111937200226914845828\/albums\/5513116066249600065\/5952229688910848066?pid=5952229688910848066&amp;oid=111937200226914845828\"><IMG SRC=\"http:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/media\/IMGP7487_0010_tn.jpg\"><\/A><br \/>\nNice wingspan, complete with <A HREF=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wingtip_device\">winglets<\/A>:<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/u\/0\/photos\/111937200226914845828\/albums\/5513116066249600065\/5952229896249795154?pid=5952229896249795154&amp;oid=111937200226914845828\"><IMG SRC=\"http:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/media\/IMGP7494_0009_tn.jpg\"><\/A><br \/>\nShe treated me to an airshow-like low pass right in front of me, camera snapping away.<br \/>\n<A HREF=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/u\/0\/photos\/111937200226914845828\/albums\/5513116066249600065\/5952230088174426466?pid=5952230088174426466&amp;oid=111937200226914845828\"><IMG SRC=\"http:\/\/wildcorvid.org\/media\/IMGP7498_0005_tn.jpg\"><\/A><br \/>\nand circled around into the trees.
